What SoundCloud content can be saved
SoundCloud is full of DJ mixes, independent music, podcasts and lectures that are free to stream. Zovan can save any public track that plays for a visitor who isn't logged in.
- Works: public tracks, mixes, podcast episodes and spoken-word uploads.
- Doesn't work: private tracks, "SoundCloud Go+" tracks that only play a 30-second preview, and tracks blocked in your region.
If a track only gives you 30 seconds, that's the preview SoundCloud shows to free listeners — the full track is reserved for subscribers.
Check for an official download first
Many SoundCloud artists turn on SoundCloud's own Download file button, which gives you their original, often higher-quality file. Look for it under the waveform or in the "⋯ More" menu before using Zovan — it's the best quality and it's exactly what the artist wants you to use.
Audio formats
SoundCloud streams audio in compressed formats. Depending on the track you'll get an MP3 or an M4A/Opus file. All of them play on phones, computers and car stereos; if you're unsure which to choose, our format guide explains the difference.
Support the artists
Independent musicians on SoundCloud live on plays, follows and reposts. Downloading a mix to listen to on a flight is fine — re-uploading it or using it in your own content without permission isn't. Follow and repost the artists you enjoy.
Downloading on a computer
On Windows, Mac or Linux the steps are the same: open the track page in your browser, copy the address from the address bar, paste it into Zovan and press Fetch. Files go to your Downloads folder — press Ctrl+J (Windows/Linux) or ⌘+Shift+J (Mac) in Chrome or Edge to see them. Any modern player opens the MP4; if one doesn't, the free VLC player plays everything.
Podcasts and long mixes
Hour-long DJ sets and podcast episodes are big files. The progress window shows how far along the download is; keep the page open until it finishes. If a podcast is also available on a podcast app, subscribing there gives you automatic offline episodes and supports the show's statistics.
