Pinterest is where many of us find recipes, workout routines, sewing patterns and home ideas. The problem: you're often in the kitchen, the garage or a shop with poor signal exactly when you need that Pin — and Pins vanish when the original account deletes them. Saving your favourites to your device solves both problems.
Board saves vs. real downloads
Pinterest's own Save button adds a Pin to your board, but the content stays on Pinterest. If the creator deletes it, it disappears from your board too, and you need internet to view it. A real download puts a copy of the video or image on your phone or computer.
How to save a video Pin
- Open the Pin and tap Share (or the three dots) → Copy link.
- Open the Pinterest downloader and paste the link.
- Tap Fetch, choose the best quality and download.
How to save an image Pin at full size
A screenshot gives you a small, cropped picture with buttons on it. Instead, fetch the Pin link and choose Download image. You get the original-size image Pinterest stores — much better for printing a recipe card or zooming into a pattern.
Getting the right link
- Copy the link of a single Pin — it contains /pin/. Board and profile links won't work.
- If the app gives you a pin.it short link that doesn't work, open it in your browser first so it expands, then copy the full address.
- Some Pins just point to another website. If the video lives on that site, open the source for the best version.
Organise your offline library
A pile of files called "video_2938.mp4" is hard to use. A few habits help:
- Rename as you save — "lemon-cake.mp4", "shelf-bracket-diy.jpg".
- Make folders by topic — Recipes, Workouts, Garden, Crafts.
- On Android, Google Photos lets you create albums; on iPhone, use Photos albums after saving the video from Files.
- Back up the folder to your computer or cloud storage now and then.
Printing recipes and patterns
For image Pins with text — recipe cards, knitting charts — download the full-size image and print it from your phone's gallery or computer. Check the printed size: very tall infographics print better split across two pages, which most print dialogs can do with "fit to page" turned off.
On a computer
Open the Pin in your browser, copy the address bar link, paste it into Zovan and download. Files go to your Downloads folder. Desktop is often easier for building an organised library because renaming and moving files is quicker.
Respect the people behind the Pins
Many Pins come from food bloggers and small makers who earn from visits to their sites. If a Pin helps you, visit the source link and consider following them. Keep downloads for personal use, and don't re-pin downloaded images as your own.
